Looking for Acupuncture in the Orlando area? We are in Maitland, just north of the city and minutes from Winter Park, Altamonte Springs and Eatonville — close enough that most Orlando patients are here in well under half an hour, without downtown parking.

What tends to bring people to us from across the Orlando area is not the location. It is who performs the treatment.

Meet Tim Monaco, AP, LMT

Tim is a licensed Acupuncture Physician and a Diplomate of the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. He completed his Acupuncture and herbal medicine training here in Orlando at the Florida College of Integrative Medicine, earning a Bachelor of Science in Professional Health Sciences and a Master of Science in Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine, graduating Cum Laude.

That matters locally for a simple reason: he trained in this community, under this state’s standards, in the same city his patients live in.

Thirty Years of Fascial Work

Here is what makes Tim unusual, and it is the reason patients travel to see him.

Before Acupuncture, Tim spent more than thirty years as a Licensed Massage Therapist, with his work focused mainly on the fascial systems of the body — the connective tissue web that wraps and links every muscle, and that so often holds the restriction causing pain somewhere else entirely. He worked with elite athletes in Bend, Oregon, endurance athletes he personally coached, and everyday people in pain, and taught at the Sage School of Massage for over ten years.

Most acupuncturists come to the profession through study. Tim came to it through three decades of fascial work — learning by hand what a restriction, an adhesion or a compensation pattern actually feels like, and how far from the painful spot its cause often sits. When he places a needle, he is drawing on both.

In practice that means a treatment is rarely needles alone. He can find a restriction by hand, treat it manually, needle it, and re-check it — in the same visit. He is also certified in NeuroKinetic Therapy and Neuromuscular Reprogramming, two manual systems built around muscle testing to identify which muscles are compensating for which.

An Athlete Treating Athletes

Tim competed at a high level for years: a top American finish at the Ironman World Championship, US National Team member at the Powerman Duathlon World Championship, overall wins at the 1996 Vineman Ironman and Buffalo Springs Lake Ironman 70.3, and twelve ultramarathon wins between 2002 and 2011.

He is certified in sports Acupuncture and dry needling, is a USA Cycling Level II coach, and a Titleist Performance Institute golf fitness instructor. If you are training for something, he has likely trained for it himself.
