Cosmetic Acupuncture

The same fine needles used in a standard treatment, placed around the face, jaw and ears.

Acupuncture facials stimulate blood flow and support collagen and elastin production — both essential to healthy skin. Increased circulation and tissue support help firm the skin and soften the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

What It Is Used For

  • Collagen support — improved skin elasticity and softer fine lines and wrinkles
  • Circulation — revitalising the complexion and improving skin texture
  • Acne — through reduced inflammation, improved blood flow and hormonal balance
  • Skin tone — a reduction in inflammation tends to show in the face
  • Relaxation — endorphin release, and a genuinely restful hour

What to Expect

It is a slower, quieter treatment than a standard session, and it is cumulative rather than instant. Cosmetic Acupuncture works by building circulation and collagen support over a course of treatments, so a single session is not a fair test of it.

Tim will look at your skin and give you a realistic plan — including telling you if he does not think it is the right thing for what you are hoping to change.

The face carries a lot of small blood vessels, so occasional minor bruising is possible. It is not the usual outcome, but if you have an event coming up, say so and we will time things accordingly.

Who Performs It

Tim Monaco, AP, LMT — a licensed Acupuncture Physician and NCCAOM Diplomate, with more than thirty years as a licensed massage therapist behind him.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does an Acupuncture facial hurt?
The needles are roughly the width of a human hair and far finer than anything used for injections. Most people feel a brief sensation on insertion and then very little. Many patients find the session deeply relaxing.
Will I be bruised afterwards?
The face is well supplied with small blood vessels, so occasional small bruising is possible. It is not the usual outcome, and we will talk through it before your first session if you have an event coming up.
How many sessions does it take?
Cosmetic Acupuncture is cumulative rather than immediate — it works by building circulation and collagen support over a series of treatments. Tim will give you a realistic plan after seeing your skin.
Who performs the treatment?
Tim Monaco, AP, LMT — a licensed Acupuncture Physician and NCCAOM Diplomate.
